Migraines, migraines, go away....

I’ve used feverfew to manage my migraines for many years, and I want to share the technique that has worked so well. Feverfew is easy to grow and is a game changer for me and so many others. First, a disclaimer: I’m not a doctor or herbalist. Always consult your healthcare professional before starting any new remedy. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Here’s how it works:Feverfew plant

The Loading Phase (2 weeks):
Take fresh feverfew leaves, wash them well, and place one leaf under your tongue or in the side of your mouth – just like a baseball player with chewing tobacco. It tastes absolutely terrible, bitter and strong. Nobody who has migraines ever complains about the taste though, because it’s so far better than the pain.
The fresh juices from the leaves as you masticate them or crush them before applying to a mucous membrane are the parts that are absorbed through the body. This is often why fever few medications if you buy a capsule form don’t actually work well. They do not have the application to the mucous membrane where it’s most easily absorbed.

Do this once daily for 2 weeks. During this time, your system is getting “loaded” with feverfew.

The Maintenance Phase (after loading):
After those 2 weeks, your system is primed. When a migraine comes, use the same technique but only when you need it – no more daily loading.

Fresh vs. Fermented Feverfew:
Fresh leaves work great, especially in summertime.. But in winter when the plant dies back, you can use the fermented version. I make it by fermenting the leaves (Korean natural fermentation techniques), and honestly, it tastes better than fresh!Feverfew Leaf

For the fermented version, I dip my finger into the ferment and press it against my gums or under my tongue. Hold it there for a while, reapply if needed. It works. You could certainly use a small utensil like the end of a spoon or something. I just happen to be the only one in my household right now with migraines so I know I’m kind of okay to dip a little bit into the jar!

I’ve never heard anyone complain about this method once they learned to use it correctly. The bitter taste is worth it a thousand times over for migraine relief.

This is what I’ve found works, and I share it because I want others to know there are natural options that can help.
