Have you seen seeds that start to sprout right in the fruit or vegtable from the store?
Some seeds sprout right in the squash! Don’t worry – this is completely normal! You can use these sprouts just like any other! They’re packed with nutrients!
Step 1: Remove the sprouts carefully. Use a clean spoon
or tweezers. When you’re preparing your squash, look for any seeds that have already started to sprout. Gently remove and keep them moist while you work.
Step 2: Give them a dark, moist space (like a cupboard)
Keep them moist but not drowning. Let them sit for a few days. Check to make sure they don’t dry out.
Step 3: Add a Tiny Bit of Sunshine- Toward the end, give them a little sunshine. This helps them develop their full, vibrant green color. Be gentle – they’re just starting to grow!
Step 4: Enjoy Your Hidden Harvest!
