While you’re gathered with family in the coming weeks, you might want to quietly ask for a small piece of clothing that’s special to them—an old apron, a favorite worn-soft T-shirt, a baby blanket that’s been outgrown. By next
Christmas, those scraps can become a family treasure you walk across every single day.
I’ve been working away on something that’s very close to my heart: rug kits. Real, honest, barefoot-on-a-handmade-rug kits. The kind my own grandmothers would have smiled at.
Each kit will include
About that hook… It’s not
plastic that bends and feels fake while you work. And it’s not cold metal, which can make arthritic hands ache. It’s a living material, made from warm wood, shaped to rest perfectly against your thumb with a gentle flat
profile and softly rounded edges. That shape keeps every stitch deliciously loose and even—exactly what a rag rug loves—so the finished rug lies flat and feels like a hug underfoot. After months of testing, it’s become my favorite tool in the studio… and I can’t wait for it to feel like home in your hands too.
These kits are a quiet labor of love, and there won’t be very many for this first run. If a rug made of memories sounds like something your heart (or someone you love) needs this winter, mark December 9th–10th on your calendar and pop back to the shop. I’ll have them waiting.
Until then, keep collecting those precious scraps.
